Student to Market Stall Owner
Amelia’s dream of running her own business became a reality in November when she debuted her small business, Pascal’s Pals, at the Bedfordale Markets.
Kerri, Amelia’s Careers Teacher, introduced Amelia to our Project Employment program, where Amelia has worked alongside Project Employment Consultant Holly, who has played a key role in helping Amelia achieve this milestone.
Pascal’s Pals specialises in handmade jewellery and crocheted items, which Amelia creates with her mum’s support. It was wonderful to see all of Amelia’s hard work come to fruition as she interacted with customers and proudly sold her creations.
Her passion for crafting and running her own stall is clear as she shares, “I love seeing people like and buy my items. I love making the items, and running the business with my mum.”
When asked about her self-employment journey, Amelia explained, “I have only run one stall but I would like to run others. At this stage I am investing our profits into future running of the stall. Starting up a business gives me purpose as it gives me something to work towards.”
Holly from Edge, is taking this journey with Amelia, providing ongoing support to help Amelia achieve her employment goals. “Holly’s support has been invaluable after the course, as she has introduced me to the world of markets. She has shown undying support and enthusiasm. She made us feel very comfortable and supported, with her kind and welcoming energy. She introduced us to other market stall businesses who provided advice and feedback. She provided advice on logistical questions in regard to running a market stall.”
“Holly’s support motivated me and kept me moving forward in my business planning. Whenever we had small barriers or concerns Holly worked through them with us, and provided information and solutions. The Edge staff have made me feel happy and supported,” shared Amelia.
For Holly, watching Amelia’s progress has been incredibly rewarding. “Amelia has worked so hard to prepare for this market, and I’m so proud of how far she’s come. Her dedication and commitment is inspiring,” said Holly.
This echoes our thoughts, keep up the great work Amelia!
