Sharla wanted to work in Aged Care and originally came to Edge for some support with studying for the Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

“Edge helped with my units and my assessments if needed. I completed this qualification with the help from the support sessions,” she said. “Edge gave me additional help when it came to studying for my course and then helped me to find my job.”

For the last two years Sharla has been working as a Domestic Assistant and Carer at Hendercare. She undertakes a range of tasks including cleaning, changing the sheets, hanging out washing, giving residents food, and taking them to the shops, pet shop, ATM and to various appointments.

“Edge made me feel supported and more confident in myself.”

She enjoys her role at Hendercare. “I love helping people and taking them out.” As Sharla has dogs of her own, she really loves it when they want to visit the pet shop. “Edge made me feel supported and more confident in myself. I enjoyed having someone to help with studying and someone to talk to as well about work.”
