Assisting to flourish.
Oliver began working at Crown Perth one year ago as a Kitchen Steward. Six months into his new role, Crown Perth referred Oliver to Edge’s Work Assist program.
Work Assist is a support service designed to provide your employee with ongoing workplace support in the event of injury, disability or illness. Work Assist helps already employed individuals when situations may arise that leave them facing difficulties at work or just needing a little extra help to get things done.
After Oliver was referred to the Work Assist program, he was introduced to our Account Manager Shirley. They identified the areas that were preventing Oliver from thriving in his role and discussed solutions. Shirley then introduced Oliver to his Edge Job Coach Luke who provided a six month employment plan working towards Oliver’s employment goals.
Luke and Christine, CROWNability’s Program Manager, collaborated to help co-design strategies to get Oliver back on track. This included identifying Oliver’s need for structure in his everyday role and reporting to one manager. Working together to identify and support Oliver with the required changes has allowed him to flourish confidently in his role.
“I have gained clarity around my duties and identified the areas where I required more support which has given me more confidence and my performance has improved,” said Oliver.
Oliver has benefited from his Job Coach’s support, “Luke has made me feel positive, supported and heard. He has sought feedback to help me improve and has advocated for me. Luke is like a pal to me.”
Ian Tsolakis, Group Disability Employment Manager at Crown, has seen the firsthand benefit of an Edge Job Coach, “Oliver’s Job Coach at Edge worked to instil confidence in him. Assuring him that together they will find a job that is suitable and fits well with his career choice, dreams and goals. Edge knew Oliver’s strengths, his passion and the fact that he was a reliable individual, and therefore sought a more structured role for him.”
Working with the Edge team has been valuable for Ian, “Crown Resorts is very proud to be partnering with Edge to increase the participation of people with disability in our workforce. Together we have achieved success in employing over 50 people in our organisation. Edge’s commitment to providing consistent post-placement support to our employees is the benchmark of our success.”
Work Assist has allowed Oliver to continue working where he loves, “being an employee at Crown is an honour.” Next week, Oliver will be celebrating his one year anniversary at Crown. From all of the Edge team, congratulations!
