Services for...

Many people with disabilities have been through more, seen more and coped with more than most. We understand and believe that this life experience offers a unique perspective to the workplace, which Edge has been proud to champion since 1984.

In 1984, our co-founders Dr Greg Lewis and Sue Robertson, created the ‘place and train’ model. They theorised that with the right level of support, people with an intellectual disability had a better chance of securing meaningful employment.

From this theory, Edge was born – with the model continuing to remain at the centre of our program, helping to guide employees and employers alike.

Over the years, Edge has expanded into four offices in Subiaco, Joondalup, Cockburn and East Victoria Park, securing over 9,000 jobs for people with disability.

The three distinct phases of the original Edge model have stood the test of time and remain the foundation of our program today:

  • Registration: a job seeker registers to receive our services and a profile is developed based on the individual’s interests, aspirations and employment goals.
  • Job Search: based on the job seeker’s profile, an Edge Employer Consultant works to find a suitable role for the job seeker with an equally suitable employer.
  • Job Support: an Edge Job Coach provides support to prepare the employer and the new employee for their employment opportunity. Support will either continue as needed, or be gradually withdrawn based on the ongoing needs of the employee and their employer.

Today, we are proud to be one of WA’s oldest employment agency specialising in disability, and continue to highlight the incredible potential that people with disability can bring to businesses, large and small.
