Having experienced a traumatic brain injury in a car accident, Kim began the process of healing both her mind and her body. As her strength and capabilities grew, Kim found she was able to work in the fast‑food industry.

In August 2014 Kim began her journey with the popular Nando’s in her local area. Not only did this job suit Kim’s abilities, it was also close to her home so she could walk to work.

Edge coached Kim along her journey as tasks, protocols and expectations changed and we witnessed Kim’s confidence grow as her communication skills improve. She sought our advice and practical suggestions on how to deal with any incidents of miscommunication with either customers or colleagues.

Kim established herself as one of the best cleaners and most reliable workers, rarely taking a day off. Her success is due to her own determination to do well and improve.

As Kim had issues with her memory due to the brain injury, Edge assisted her to get her Responsible Service of Alcohol ticket. This involved building her confidence up so Kim could ask for customer feedback to meet standard requirements.

While continuing to adapt to changes in the industry, Kim is now transferring some of the confidence she has gained through her work into her personal life, meeting the everyday challenges of running a household and raising her son.

Each challenge Kim faces is met with a determined attitude and a smile. For our team working with Kim has been rewarding because of her positive attitude and willingness to take responsibility for her own growth.
