Soaring
During our seven week work preparation program, Project Employment, Aiden secured employment! With the support of the Edge team, Aiden successfully started working while completing Term 1 of school and graduating from Project Employment.
Now two months into his role as a Kitchen Hand at Nic & Kolo in Applecross, Aiden shared that his life has been positively impacted. “It allows me to have money, increased my confidence, independence and social skills.”
When asked about his favourite parts of the job, Aiden highlighted social exposure, support and guidance from my colleagues, money and of course, the half-price meals!
Aiden also shared that the Edge team has, “made me feel supported and aware of my rights. They helped me develop work safety, visit different employment options and develop my resume.”
In his role, he has been supported by a great team and colleagues. “They are helpful, easy to talk to, friendly, supportive and knowledgeable.”
In addition to the supportive team at Nic & Kolo, Aiden is assisted by Edge Project Employment Consultant Holly, who saw firsthand his progress throughout the program. “Aiden started the program as a shy student but as the term progressed, so did he! His confidence increased and continued to grow since he started employment at Nic & Kolo.
It is a pleasure to have Aiden in the program, and he always knew how to brighten up the class with his smile and personality.”
It has been great to see Aiden’s growth and much like his cherished football team, the Eagles, we look forward to seeing him develop.
