Kicking goals, on and off the field
Working with Edge has been transformative for Luka, not just in developing his practical skills but in shaping his belief in his abilities. “Edge has assisted me with my confidence in working with money, setting tables, and travel training,” shared Luka.
Luka’s NDIS sessions with Edge have been pivotal in opening doors and building his confidence. Some of the things Luka has worked on during his sessions include assisting with enrolment in the Arrow Certificate III Hospitality Course, money handling, interview-ready skills and mock interviews. Edge’s guidance also includes employment-related skills, such as learning to read menus and understand how a café operates, skills that Luka can apply in real-life work situations.
His enthusiasm was evident when he spoke about his experiences, “I enjoyed learning about money and budgeting. I also learned how to fold napkins and set tables. I feel very well supported, always treated with kindness and respect.”
Luka completed practical hours as a Kitchen Assistant at Faith Community Church in Willetton. He’s involved in customer service, loading the dishwasher, and measuring and packing food.
“Edge helped me find this opportunity, and now I’m studying for a Certificate III in Hospitality,” Luka said.
He especially enjoys his time working the till and washing dishes. “I love working at the till and doing the dishes because it’s an important job. I like seeing the people, they’re kind and respectful.”
But that’s not the only exciting development in Luka’s life. He has been selected to represent WA and Australia at the Soccer World Cup in Houston, Texas! “I’ll be playing for one of 40 teams, and some of the teams after the event will be selected to play before the 2026 World Cup.”
This achievement is a huge milestone in Luka’s life, showcasing his dedication, passion, and hard work both on and off the field. We all celebrate with him as he embarks on this incredible opportunity, representing Australia!
