From Preparation to Recognition
“Cameron is my number one presentation worker and does an excellent job. We have increased his hours because his performance is so good,” shared Cameron’s Manager at Spudshed Bentley.
Following a referral from his school to our work preparation program for high school students, Project Employment (formerly Charged Up for Work), Cameron successfully graduated with confidence to pursue job opportunities and excel in interviews. Through engagement with the Edge team, Cameron landed a position as a Team Member at Spudshed.
Supported by the Project Employment team, Cameron received assistance in preparing for his new role, where he is now supported weekly by Edge Job Coach Daniel. Reflecting on his journey, Cameron shared, “Edge has helped me be more confident in my skills and to develop my social skills. Luke [Project Employment Consultant] helped me learn how to do a job interview and Daniel comes into my work and checks my progress which reassures me.
It has given me stability in my job and confidence. They have motivated me to maintain my employment.”
Seven months into his role, Cameron still finds enjoyment at work and impresses his colleagues. “Being instore, I enjoy the routine and the range of products. I get satisfaction out of keeping everything well presented. It has been good to earn extra money to spend on bills and of course hobbies.”
He further shared proudly, “I have just been awarded employee of the month at Spudshed Bentley!”
Outside of work Cameron keeps himself busy by volunteering at the ANZAC Army Museum in Fremantle for one day a week, something he has done for nearly a year.
We are happy to see Cameron recognised for his hard work and look forward to witnessing his ongoing success.
