Flipping opportunities with Grill’d

In December 2022, our Edge team approached the Grill’d Madeley store in Kingsway Shopping Centre. Manager Chris was impressed by our genuine interest in understanding their business needs and appreciated the personal approach of the Edge staff.

What began as an introduction to our services has now grown to be a strong partnership with five Edge clients gaining meaningful employment with Grill’d. Each of these employees is now going through the various stages of completing a Traineeship in Hospitality.

Chris and the team have been a great support to the Edge clients at their site. If any of the trainees face challenges and difficulties with their traineeship, rather than employment ceasing, Chris has worked creatively and collaboratively to come up with solutions. One of our clients required some extra support, which Chris accommodated by offering them weekly work with their support worker.

Sharing his appreciation for the Edge team, Chris is thankful to the Job Coaches who provide valuable support to each client and on-the-job training when required. Chris is also thankful to the wider Edge team who have assisted their managers with advice and support while ensuring the trainees continue their career development.

Forming this partnership with Grill’d is meaningful as they are focused on community involvement and having an inclusive workforce.

Their core value of giving back to the community is exemplified through initiatives like offering people with disability traineeships, combining education and employment. Chris shared, “Grill’d’s purpose is to give back to the local area by hiring a diverse team, and through the support of Edge, it allows Grill’d to Grow and Develop by allowing others to grow and develop.”

His advice about disability employment for other businesses is, “Give it a go and see how it fits with your business. The process flows really well with Edge.”

The collaboration between Grill’d and Edge is a testament to the power of community partnerships in fostering growth, inclusion, and shared success.
