Empowered and determined

We do not just help people find employment, we assist them to get job ready. Caitlin was referred to Edge through Services Australia and already had a goal in mind. She wanted to finish her Certificate III in Auslan but was having difficulty after classes went online. Caitlin was determined to achieve her goal as she wanted to use her knowledge to translate for youth.

After meeting with Edge’s Customer Relations Advisor Amanda, we identified the next steps needed for Caitlin to achieve her goal. When we asked Caitlin about her experience she said, “I was not attached to any other support networks and was dealing with my diagnosis alone. Amanda immediately put a referral into youth focus for counselling, I was seen within two weeks and continue to do so. She also made constant contact with suggestions on how to work with my TAFE lecturers towards goals and gave me the confidence to keep going as I knew she believed in me.”

Caitlin is appreciative of the support from Edge, “The staff at Edge have given me the confidence to complete my Certificate III in Auslan. It has given me a sense of empowerment, having the confidence to take control of completing one of my main goals.”

“I have completed my Certificate III in Auslan three weeks early and this has given me the encouragement to continue my journey and complete my Certificate IV. I feel I could not have achieved this end result without the support and encouragement from the staff at Edge.”
