Developing skills for a meaningful career

“Edge has made me not just confident in my skills but also my body and mind. I feel empowered and confident doing things.”

Since connecting with Edge through Commit Connect at Youth Futures, Tazmin has grown in confidence, developed essential workplace skills, enrolled at North Metropolitan TAFE, and begun volunteering at Perth Wildlife Hospital.

Supported through our SLES program and alongside her NDIS Employment Support Coach, Chantal, Tazmin has been volunteering at the wildlife hospital since March. Her role includes feeding and preparing food for animals, cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures, and helping with laundry duties.

For Tazmin, the most rewarding part of the experience is “interacting with the different animals and learning more about the animals.” She says the opportunity has given her “more confidence and more experience in the workplace.”
Reflecting on her journey, Tazmin shared:

“Edge has helped me achieve essential new skills and has helped improve my overall confidence. Edge has truly made a unique impact on my life. Thanks to them, I’m enrolled at TAFE and also volunteering at Perth Wildlife Hospital.”

Outside of volunteering and study, Tazmin enjoys art, writing, mental health, and animals. She is currently working towards completing her Integrating Mental Health Practice Skillset course at North Metro TAFE, continuing to build a future centred around helping others and making a positive impact.
