Crafting a career
Kyle, born with a profound hearing loss, has become known for his exceptional work and attention to detail. What some may see as a perceived limitation, Kyle considers his strength as he continues to grow his career as a cabinet maker and leader at Rynat Industries.
Engaging with Edge through our Work Assist Program, Kyle has received support to upskill in his current role. This came in the form of assisting Kyle with obtaining his White Card, forklift ticket, and interpreter services. This support has allowed Kyle to continue to succeed in his role, “Edge made me feel confident and supported. The assistance I have received has helped me remove the barriers to obtaining the qualifications I needed to progress my career. I now feel more confident in using my knowledge and skills to add value in my role.”
His passion for the job is evident as he shares, “I enjoy all areas of the job. It’s friendly and easy going with everyone.” For Kyle, his role has also offered him financial freedom and independence, sharing, “employment changed my life.”
The exceptional progress and development of Kyle have been supported by Rynat General Manager, Craig Marshall. “During Kyle’s interview, his determination and enthusiasm to work quickly came across. Kyle expressed his desire to be part of a team where he could actively contribute, showcasing his talent and work ethic. His eagerness to work hard and his ability to overcome any obstacle in his way was a real attribute we were looking for in the team,” said Craig.
An opportunity arose for Kyle to continue his career progression by acting as the Workshop Team Leader. This opportunity allowed Kyle to use his skills and show his leadership capabilities. He also adapted to using new ways of communication beyond verbal interactions to effectively communicate with the team. Kyle quickly proved himself not just as an invaluable team member, but now as a Team Leader within the company.
Kyle’s high-quality work, attitude and effort are a friendly reminder that what may be seen as a limitation can be a powerful strength. His success as a team leader at Rynat is a testament to his resilience, skill, and the support from his colleagues, managers and the team at Edge.
