Celebrating 30 remarkable years
Jason has been a reliable employee of East Metropolitan Health Service for three decades, spending the last decade at Royal Perth Hospital.
“I love my job as I enjoy going to the wards and seeing patients. I have worked in total 30 years with the Royal Perth Hospital and Shenton Park Hospital.”
Throughout his journey, the Edge team has been a supportive force for Jason in his role as a Linen Assistant. Expressing his gratitude, Jason shares, “Edge has helped me with communicating with Peter, my manager, and to overcome my shyness. I receive ongoing support and Edge’s support makes sure I get my Transperth travel card twice a year.” This Transperth card allows Jason to travel independently to and from work.
Pauline, Jason’s Edge Job Coach for the past three years, reflects on their partnership, which has evolved over time. “Jason and I have formed a really strong support partnership. Jason was really shy in the beginning, but he has really opened up and shared some beautiful stories from his time over the journey.”
Jason’s passion extends beyond his daily tasks to the Royal Perth Hospital Museum, where he enjoys sharing stories and memories from the evolution he has witnessed over the past three decades. “Pauline has made me feel really more confident and encouraged me to become involved in the Museum. The Curator of the Museum needed some old green shirts that may have been used in the 50s and 60s. I managed to find those and give them to the Museum to create an operating theatre of the 50s and 60s!”
Linen Services and Administration Officer Peter is Jason’s Manager and is extremely grateful for Jason’s dedication and work ethic. “When Jason moved from Shenton where he had been for 20 years to Royal Perth Hospital, his transition was seamless due to the fantastic support Edge provided to Jason and the Hospital.
He is an asset to our team and with the ongoing support from the Edge staff, he is thriving within the health environment.”
Congratulations on 30 years Jason, you should be very proud!
