All Stars

You may have seen Max, one of our Charged Up for Work students on the news recently and at Telethon. He was featured as part of the Telethon funded All Stars for Autism program where he mentors younger autistic children.

This Telethon Teen Mentoring Program provides an exciting opportunity for autistic high school students to mentor autistic primary school students. This ground-breaking initiative enables autistic children to connect, collaborate and inspire each other as they work together on creative and meaningful community-driven projects.

Max graduated from Edge’s Charged Up for Work program this year. Charged Up for Work helps provide students with a smooth transition from high school to the workplace by supporting them with practical employment skills. Max completed the seven-week program in Term 1 and has now, with some help from Edge’s Business Development Manager Daniel, secured part-time employment with Programmed. Our ongoing relationship with Programmed, has provided some great opportunities for our Charged Up for Work students.

Next year, Max will commence a Certificate III with Programmed, and in doing so, will finish his secondary education with a qualification that will significantly increase his long-term employability. Along with his part-time work experience, qualifications and now his experience in the Telethon funded mentor program, Max is all set for success! We are thrilled for him and excited to continue supporting him through the next chapter of his career.
