Abdu’s Path to a Career in Security

Abdu is one of Edge’s newer clients. When he started working with his NDIS Employment Support Coach Adam, Abdu identified three clear goals. Firstly, he aimed to undertake and complete a Certificate II in Transport Security Protection, then he wanted to build up his interview skills, and lastly he wanted gain employment working in a security role.

“I want to work in security because I have a desire to keep people and property safe. I have trained in Tae Kwondo and like the idea of self‑defence”, said Abdu.

“First we researched courses that are relevant to working in security. Adam then helped me study the theory of the course over a period of 6 weeks and came to the practical sessions as well.”

“We are now working on my resume and applying for any security or distribution roles that suit me. Adam is also helping me to prepare for job interviews. I look forward to the sessions as Adam helps me build my skills around employment activities.”

Through Adam’s continuing support, Abdu is gaining confidence in speaking to people, alongside building up his industry knowledge and employment seeking skills.

“He makes the sessions interesting and fun. We always have a good time and a few laughs.”
